In a highly offensive Indoor Football League contest on Easter, the Fishers Freight barreled through the Arizona Rattlers 63-42.

Running back Josiah King had two touchdowns for Fishers, among other key standouts, but it was he who arguably sparked the offense.

According to King, they knew it was going to be a physical game and that they had to run the ball.

“We came together as a team, we just made plays,” King said.

He said coach Dixie Wooten’s message was to be physical all four quarters and not give up.

Fishers started on offense and got down to the 13-yard line on its opening drive for a first down. The Freight scored on the very next drive on a run by Josiah King, with the point-after attempt good by Calum Southerland.

Arizona tied it up with 9:47 to go in the first quarter on a run by Ron Brown Jr. with a successful PAT by Matthew Cook.

King had his second of the game to make it 14-7 after a successful PAT. The Freight pushed their lead to 16-7 on a deuce as the ball flew through the uprights on the ensuing kickoff.

Arizona answered quickly as the Rattlers drove down the field and pulled within two.

But Fishers kept pace as the Freight went for another touchdown on the next drive and made it 23-14.

Arizona opened the second quarter with a touchdown. The PAT was initially called no good. But the Rattlers challenged, and the play was overturned.

But the Freight didn’t let that get them down as they responded on the next drive as King found the end zone for his third touchdown. After a successful PAT, Fishers held a 30-21 lead.

Fishers then got a defensive stop to prevent the Rattlers from scoring and turned that into another touchdown from Dominic Roberto. Unfortunately for Fishers, the PAT was no good, and the score read 36-21 Freight with 3:22 to go in the second quarter.

On Arizona’s next offensive possession, Fishers’ Jaiden Roe intercepted the Max Meylor pass. Fishers capped off the first half with a touchdown by Isaiah Coulter to make it 42-21 as the PAT was once again no good.

The Freight held the 42-21 lead at the half.

Arizona opened the third quarter with a touchdown as the Rattlers looked to get some momentum which made it 42-28. But Fishers responded with Roberto punching it in to make it 49-28.

It became a bit of a back-and-forth affair as Meylor dove into the end zone for Arizona as the Rattlers looked to keep pace with Fishers. The PAT was good and the Freight held a 49-35 lead.

The Freight held the 14-point lead going into the final frame.

Fishers scored another touchdown from Coulter with the PAT being converted and the lead being pushed to 21 at 56-35.

With the Rattlers looking to get toward the end zone, the Freight came up with a big stop and forced a turnover on downs. Fishers then put it in as Roberto found the end zone once again for a 63-35 lead.

With how things were going for Arizona, the Rattlers made a change at quarterback as Drew Powell entered the game.

Arizona found the end zone late in the fourth as the Rattlers made it 63-42 Freight with 1:19 left.

But that was it for Arizona and the Freight improved to 2-1.

“It’s a big win,” King said. “We just have to keep stacking wins.”

He said they’re trying to be a playoff team that can get to the championship.

Fishers (2-1) hosts the Iowa Barnstormers at 7 p.m. EST on Saturday.
